The purpose of the non-licensure Bachelor of Science in Special
Education Interdisciplinary Studies major is to provide students with the
foundational knowledge to support children who have diverse needs.
The program emphasizes educational theories, teaching pedagogy,
and a biblical worldview. Those who complete this program can earn a
teaching license by completing an MAT in Special Education. This nonlicensure program is intended to better equip instructional assistants,
paraprofessionals, and other school employees to serve students in
Special Education settings.
This is a non-licensure degree and is not a state approved program.
Completion of this degree will not lead to the eligibility of a VA state
teaching license or a teaching license or certificate in any other state.
If you would like to be eligible for a VA state teaching license or work
through reciprocity guidelines to be eligible for a license or certificate in
another state, you must complete one of our state-approved programs.
